Custum-made earmold of ultra-thin tube
There are various types of BTE devices. For instance, the amplified sound can be channelled into the ear via a custom-made earmould. For this, the audiologist takes a precise-impression of your ear canal. An 'open fitting' is also possible, using an ultra-thin tube. This does not block the ear, so sounds you can still hear well will pass without any obstruction. There is also an RITE version (Receiver-In-The-Ear), where the speaker is not in the device itself but inside the ear canal.
